Most Venezuelan tales celebrate astucia or viveza (CLEVERNESS).
They may feature:
Some tales don't feature humans, instead they may have animals.
The tales are a source for a rich and varied theatrical tradition. The teller acted out the sayings and the plot.
They may feature:
- a dislike for pure power
- the belief that wealth or other advantages come from good luck
- that equality is more important than liberty
- the purpose of justice is not to fix the wrong...but to punish the powerful.
